About this Talk

In 2024, we saw the rise of AI Coding Assistants turn code creation into something effortless and almost magical—“vibe coding.” But what about the other 70% of enterprise engineering work: the troubleshooting, alert handling, capacity tuning, and endless Day-2 operations? A new class of “AI SRE” tools is emerging —fusing observability with automation and beginning to reshape the $38B ecosystem of operations tools for observability, alerting, incident response and runbook automation. In this talk, we’ll show how some of the world’s largest financial and healthcare firms are seeing 78% reductions in MTTR and replacing million-dollar outsourced operations contracts with a single engineer armed with AI SRE tools. Drawing parallels with vibe coding, we’ll explore how the “vibe” is spreading to the rest of engineering that occurs after code is written as well as diving under the hood to show some novel uses of AI beyond code generation.

Key Takeaways

  1. AI is for engineering operations in addition to coding (SRE/platform/infra/devops style work),
  2. AI is taking two previously distinct areas - observability and automation - and fusing them together,
  3. AI inside enterprise products beyond chat - planning, search, recommendation systems.
