About this Talk
Over the last year, I’ve been able to work with Steve Yegge (famous for his 20+ years at Amazon and Google) on studying how vibe coding can help all developers be more productive. It’s been amazing to watch Steve routinely generates 12,000 lines of high-quality production and well-tested code per day. He now spends $300 per day just on AI tokens, or nearly $80,000 annually, to code with 3-4 agents simultaneously.
Yet, AI assisted coding is not without risks — in the past year, between our colleagues and us, we’ve collectively experienced the AI silently deleting 80% of our tests; created “haunted” codebases that are impossible to understand, let alone change safely; almost had it do a factory-reset on a CNC machine.
And yet, we believe that no developer should ever have to write code by hand anymore. The benefits of vibe coding include:
- build things faster
- be more ambitious
- build them alone
- have more fun
- explore more options
We’ll share some of our top lessons learned, which is going into our book, on the book, “Vibe Coding: Building Production-Grade Software With GenAI, Chat, Agents, and Beyond,” which will be released later this year.
